Hand Carved Obsidian & Opal Turtle

I'm selling this for my boss, master jeweler an jewelry store owner, Walt Tofel. The provenance that we know of is; that this is a minimum of 40 years old, but most likely closer to 60 years old. Objects d'Art such as this were popular at the end of WWII. This is a hand carved obsidian turtle. The turtle's back is entirely inlaid with high quality opals in red, blue, green and even a dark almost black color. The turtle's eyes are also high quality opals with brilliant fire. This turtle measures about 6" long and about 3.5" wide. It's most likely Asian, probably Chinese. Turtles were very popular in Chinese astrology. This lovely piece is in superb condition and can be viewed in person at:

Obsidian is volcanic, amorphous, siliceous glassy rock. It comes in black gray brown or green. This piece is black. Obsidian was named after a Roman (Obisius) and was used in antiquity because of it's sharp edges and high luster.

Made in North Bennington, Vermont Cushman furniture is durable, beautiful and highly collectible. This table is a drop leaf style with original russet finish.  Maple Slide Leaf Dining Room Table & 4 Chairs And Hutch

I bought this set in an antiques shop in upstate Vermont 12 years ago. It has 2 leaves that slide under and pull out. It measures 56"x37" when closed, and 84"x37" when open. It will sit 6-8 when open. The hutch is a gorgeous country piece with 3 drawers and 2 doors. It'll display your china and store your linens , serving pieces and flatware. Victorian Gold Filled Mechanical Pencil For Chatelaine

This gold filled mechanical pencil is  in beautiful condition. It has a loop on top to be suspended from a chatelaine or chain on your neck. It has a wonderful chased design and an area to engrave your name. I believe it was designed for a woman and measures 4" long.

Cut Steel Shoe Buckles

Of ten when I buy jewelry, I have to buy the whole estate, or lot of it and not just the pieces I want. When that happens I wind up with a lot of jewelry that isn’t my specialty. It may be too new, or show more wear, or perhaps have a darkened rhinestone or two, or just not really flashy enough. Well, I find that it’s begun to accumulate in my workspace so I’m putting in my Ruby Lane store and pricing it cheap! It’s quite wearable, fun fashion jewelry and I think you’re going to like it. This is one of those pieces. Back in the good ole days, they didn't have 10 or 20 pair of shoes like we do (Can you imagine that?) and accessorized the ones they had with buckles like these.
